Blackdown Tableland
National Park

Second day - Morning

Woke up early in the morning by the Kookaburra we first had a good breakfast. After that we were ready for great walikng day. We did not leave too early and we were still present around 8:30 when the ranger came for his morning inspection. A good opportunity to talk to him, learn a little bit more about the tableland.

The first walk we choose was the Rainbow Falls circuit. The starting point of the walk is too far from the camping area to walk. We then drove to the car park marking the start of the track (+/- 4 km. from the camping area). It is a 4.4 km. return walk (+/- 2 hours). After a pleasant walk through the open forest, there is a sudden change of the scenery, with views into the luxuriant gorges and out to distant plains and hills.

Walking track - Rainbow Falls circuit Rainbow Falls walking track The Rainbow Falls

When we arrived to Rainbow Falls, steep steps led us to the bottom of the waterfalls and a series of rocky pools and platforms.

Rock Holes Another small track led us to the Rock Holes, upstream from Rainbow Falls (200 m.).

The Rainbow Falls is a very pleasant circuit. Time is needed to fully appreciate it. A good option could be to plan a picnic near the falls or near the Rock Holes

Rock Holes

As we did not planned this picnic we just went back to the camping area to have a light lunch and some rest before the afternoon walk.
