Blackdown Tableland
National Park

Second day - Afternoon

For the afternoon walk we chose the Mimosa Culture Track.

Cultural track - MushgroomIt is a 3 km. return self-guiding walk. A lot of signs are available along the track. These signs are a good introduction to both Aboriginal and European history of the park.

It begins with an easy walk through the old cattle yards. You will learn how the first settlers came with their stock and how due to the soil composition they had to go back down.

Then it continues near Mimosa Creek, going upstream through several vegetation types to an Aboriginal art site. Signs posted all along the way show and explain the plants used by the Aboriginal people.Aboriginal Art Site - Cultural Track

It is an easy walk, very nice and interesting. It is also a very good opportunity to discover the variety of the local vegetation and flowers.

There are two other walks more difficult to access. A 4WD vehicle is needed to access them via the Loop Road: the Stony Creek Falls and the Charlevue Lookout.

View from the Sunset Lookout Two lookouts that should not be missed are the Horseshoe Lookout and the Sunset Lookout.

The first one located few hundred meters from the car park near the entrance of the park. The second one is also accessible from this car park but requires a 3 km. return walk. These lookouts have sweeping views of distant ranges and plains 500m below.
