CARNARVON GORGE
Carnarvon National Park

Second Day

FOLLOW THIS LINK TO GO BACK TO THE FIRST DAY IN THE PARK

On our way to Boolimba Bluff

The day after we are back on the walking track. This time the objective is Boolimba Bluff. It is only 3.2 km. from the camping area but it is not an easy walk. The Bluff is 200 m. above the gorge floor. A series of stone steps and ladders have been built into the track to make the steep climb easier. On the way there is a sign advising that only ‘fit people’ should go after this point.

Boolimba Bluff offers a panoramic view of the gorge and the geological components of the area can be identified.

On our way to Boolimba Bluff

The souvenir of these two days are still present in our mind and more specially for me the image of the camping ground early in the morning with the rays of the rising sun and the first smoke of the camp fires.

A place where we are sure to go back one day to spend more time.

Park Guide

There are still many walking tracks to discover. The Queensland National Parks and Wildlife Service publishes a small brochure called ‘Park Guide – Carnarvon Gorge Section’ that will give you useful and interesting information about this area
