Cities & Places - MILLICENT - PORT MACDONNELL (South Australia)

The Millicent Shell Garden

milicent garden 1

Few years ago a nice stop in the region was a garden where it was possible to walk through a collection of statues, sculptures, ‘painting’, .... completely handcrafted by a couple of old people, with shells or pieces of glass. The diversity was incredible and it was a must to be seen.

Unfortunately, according to some information received from a trailer, the garden is not opened to public anymore.

A Milicent Note

For the amateur, the region offers also an opportunity to visit some caves. We personally selected the Tantanoola caves and we enjoyed the visit. (It must be specially great during the summer when it is hot outside ...).

Just after Tantanoola we are reaching to Mt Gambier where it is possible to visit the logo, interesting to see and very good to provide help.

Due to our late arrival they advised us to visit the Umpherston Caves, located very near to the city.

It is a kind of big hole covered by the vegetation (palm trees, ...), some stairs give the possibility to go down and see it under different angles. Very interesting.
The Valley Lake
As the Princess Hwy continues its way quite far from the coast we are leaving it to take the road in direction of Port Mac Donnell. On the way we have the opportunity to see the Blue Lake and the Valley Lake. According to the information I read, sometimes during the year the Blue Lake has a very special Blue color. I have to say it was not the case when we saw it.

Around Port MacDonnell there are a lot of scenic vues from the coast (Frog Rock, Camel Rock).

The road is now going left in the direction of the Great Ocean Road
