Cities & Places - GREAT OCEAN ROAD
(Victoria)
| 30 Kms. after the
Victoria border, the road is going through two national
parks. On the right and along the coast, the Discovery
Bay National Park, and on the left, the Lower Glen
National Park. The Lower Glen
National Park is a very peaceful place. We are keeping
the souvenir of the mobilhome going on the small gravel
roads, more or less lost in the forest, reaching a picnic
area on the banks of the Glenelg river.

A place so quite, even the
river seems motionless, no noise except the birds. It is also the place where we saw the first
kangaroo in the nature. Yes we did not tell you but we
had to wait few days before seeing a kangaroo. Easy to understand
when you know that during the day these marsupials prefer
to sleep under the shadow of the trees and they are only
starting to show some activity around 5 p.m. when the sun
is going down

| Back on the road, we are reaching
Portland. We did not stop there, but for information, you can
visit the Portland Fish Farm and the Portland Oceanorium. |
| 100 kms. further, a stop to Warrnambool,
a caravan park Surf Side One from where we can
hear the surfs from the ocean.
Very pleasant town, with some typical houses and the Flagstaff
Hill Maritime Village that is a reconstitution of a fisherman
village.

Leaving Warrnambool it is important not to
take the Princess Hwy. but be sure to follow the coast and
reach Port Campbell where is starting the Great Ocean Road.
(for complementary information on the region do not hesite
to visit The
Great Ocean Road Web site)
This is probably one of the most beautiful
part of the Australian coast. During 320 Kms. you hug the
coast, deep cliffs, deserted beaches, and cross nice small
villages.
A series of very special rocks with names
such us The
Arch, The Twelve Apostles, The London
Bridge, ....
