Working Holiday Visa

For many young travellers being able to benefit from an Australian Working Holiday visa is probably the chance of a lifetime chance to achieve a project that would probably not have been possible without it.

An overview of the Working Holiday visa:

The explanations and details you will find here below are provided for information only. For complete and detailed explanations and obligations, we recommend you to visit the internet website of your local Australian Embassy or the Immigration section on the Australian Government website.

Australia has now agreements with several countries that can benefit from the Working Holiday visa scheme. If you are a citizen of one of these countries and if you are between 18 and 30 years old, then you probably have the possibility to benefit from it. It means that for a full year you will be able to stay in Australia, and even work if you wish so (take care! not more than three months for the same employer).

The procedure to request and get the visa is quite easy. Complementary to the age requirement, you will have to attend a medical examination, you must be able to justify a financial support and hold a valid passport. The request must be done via the Internet and the time required to obtain the visa is usually quite short (between 48 h. and three weeks).

One of the most frequently asked question related to this type of visa is: 'do we have automatically a job when arriving in Australia?' Of course, the answer is 'no'. You will have to look yourself for a job. From region to region it will be more or less easy (i.e. some regions, with plantations, farms, … are quite interested to offer casual jobs). Be aware that some of these jobs could require some qualifications and experience plus, for non English speaking visitors, some English knowledge
